Parent Resources
At Epic Strides, we believe parents should have access to clear, trusted, and supportive information as they navigate their child’s development. Below you’ll find helpful resources about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and community support options — both online and right here in the DFW area.
What is Autism?
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability that affects social interaction, communication, and behavior. Children with ASD may have unique ways of learning, responding to their environment, or expressing themselves.
While there is currently no cure for ASD, research shows that early intervention, structured support, and evidence-based therapy can significantly improve:
- Communication
- Independence
- Adaptive Behavior
- Quality of Life
Every child with autism has their own strengths and areas for growth — and with the right support, they can make incredible progress.
What is Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)?
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach that uses principles of learning and behavior to teach meaningful skills and reduce challenging behaviors. ABA focuses on improving communication, social interaction, independence, and daily living abilities.
ABA is one of the most research-supported treatments for ASD and has been practiced for decades. It is grounded in the work of Baer, Wolf, & Risley (1968) and has continued to evolve into today’s gold standard in autism intervention.
